Special bonus, year of unlimited visits make Aquarium memberships a perfect holiday gift

By Casey Phillips November 16, 2020

With two buildings housing thousands of animals, more than a million gallons of water and dozens of exhibits, experiencing everything at the Tennessee Aquarium in a single trip can be a real challenge.

This holiday season, purchasing a membership for a loved one (or yourself) offers more than just a year’s worth of unlimited visits to one of the nation’s highest-rated aquariums. It’s the gift of time — to experience the wonder of life above and below the surface at a more relaxed pace while soaking up the tiny details and quirky behaviors that make each trip a unique, memorable experience.

As a special bonus, Individual-Plus, Family, and Deluxe gift memberships purchased between Nov. 16 and Dec. 16 will include a complimentary surprise in the mail that’s sure to make this year’s holiday shell-ebrations even more special.

“This is one of our favorite times of the year at the Aquarium, and we can't wait to 're-home' some truly adorable Green Sea Turtle plushes to aquarium lovers of all ages,” says Monnie Leigh Meads, the Aquarium’s membership and group sales manager. “Not only will the recipient receive a year's worth of fun, but they will always have a special — and cuddly — memento to mark their membership.”

Gift Memberships may be purchased online at tnaqua.org or in person at the Riverplace Ticketing Center on the Aquarium plaza.

Since opening in 1992, the Aquarium has become a globally celebrated exhibitor of aquatic life and a staging point from which more than 26 million visitors have forged countless lifelong memories. Generations of guests have experienced profound connections with nature in its galleries through up-close encounters with animals such as romping River Otters, acrobatic Ring-tailed Lemurs, lumbering Alligator Snapping Turtles and toothy Sand Tiger Sharks.

In addition to being able to embark on limitless voyages through the River and Ocean Journey buildings, members enjoy a host of other benefits, including

  • Discounts in the gift shops
  • Savings on guest tickets
  • Admission to the Aquarium without advance reservation
  • Reduced IMAX film tickets
  • Exclusive news updates
  • Access to special members-only events and digital content
  • Discounts to partnering regional attractions and area businesses

Like many other non-profits, the Aquarium has experienced tremendous financial strain this year due to the ongoing pandemic. The purchase of a membership supports the Aquarium during this difficult time and fuels vital conservation programs to study and safeguard imperiled native species like the Lake Sturgeon, Southern Appalachian Brook Trout, and Barrens Topminnow.

Gift memberships are available in several tiers, from $120 for an Individual-Plus to $300 for Deluxe memberships for two specified adults, any five children, and one guest pass plus unlimited admission to 45-minute IMAX films.
