Recently the Bradley Health Department shared updates with the Bradley County Health Council. Information shared included the Bradley County Health Department's reopening and some service update changes. Glenn Czarnecki, Southeast Regional Director shared that federal COVID-19 funds had allowed additional medical professionals to be hired and trained to augment the work for COVID-19. Those same funds allowed the hiring of additional staff to increase testing capabilities at all Health Departments across the region. Czarnecki emphasized, "With the staff, we have on board we can test far more than we are currently seeing so we encourage folks to get tested. It has also allowed our regular staff to get back to providing traditional public health services."
Testing at the health department is typically in the morning hours, but you can still get the same services you've always received from 8:00 am. to 4:30 p.m. Some services are being offered in a slightly different format.
- The Women, Infants, and Children's program (WIC) is still offered every day. The federally funded supplemental nutrition program for pregnant mothers and their children has allowed us to provide all services over the phone for the foreseeable future and our clients have continued to receive their benefits throughout the pandemic.
- Immunizations and birth and death certificates can be provided in the parking lot without even having to leave your vehicle.
- Seasonal flu shots are now being offered to all residents at no charge and can be given through a drive-thru service. You will want to call ahead for COVID-19 testing and flu shots so your visit can be as seamless as possible.
Czarnecki went on to praise his public health co-workers for the "incredible work, tireless efforts, and long hours they have given to fighting COVID-19."
