WAIT! You are thinking- what does that have to do with Groundhog Day?? Did you know that Groundhog day has European roots? It was called Candlemas Day and they watched a hedgehog to see if it saw it's shadow! Groundhog Day began in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania way back in 1887. When the Europeans came to America there weren't any hedgehogs, so they started watching the groundhog.
This week we will all have a close eye on Punxsutawney Phil as we make our guesses on whether or not we see his shadow. So, we want to know: Do you think Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow?
