RIP: Regional Intervention Program
The Regional Intervention Program (RIP) is a parent-implemented, professionally-supported program for young children and their families who are experiencing challenging behaviors. RIP has been serving families with young children since 1969. This unique, internationally-recognized program guides parents in learning the skills to work directly with their own children while they receive training and support from experienced RIP families.
"When we didn’t know what to do next, RIP gave us a plan, a guide. Not only has RIP helped us now, but it’s given [us] a grasp on strategies our family needs for life." - RIP parent/graduate
RIP is free positive parenting program with a site located in Cleveland, TN. Parents come to RIP two times a week (2 hours on Tuesday and 2 hours on Thursdays) for 6 months. Currently, we have programs that run 3-5:00 and 5:30-7:30. Parents learn and actively use the techniques in our classrooms with the help of other parents, parent-staff, and professional staff. Children aged 2 to signed-up before their 6th birthday attend the program and have fun in a typical preschool structured classroom. We work on whatever behaviors are occurring with each individual family. Typical behaviors may include: "Strong-willedness", non-compliance, tantrums, aggressive behaviors, high energy, lack of focus, sensory, sibling issues, bedtime routines, transition problems, potty training, school/classroom, and eating issues. We will define and focus on the behaviors the family wants to target to improve.
